Chapter 413
Kieran’s husky voice sounded beside Lila’s ear, making the latter blush. However,
he didn’t let her off the hook easily this time. He leaned closer to her ear and wrapped his arm around her waist.
“I’m looking forward to your gift.”
Lila dodged Kieran’s warm breath and grabbed his shirt before pushing him away. Nonetheless, he didn’t move an inch. She raised her head and looked at him. “Let go of me first. I’ll go and get it.”
It was only then that Kieran chuckled and let go of her. His fingers seemed to touch her waist through the clothes.
Lila felt ticklish, so she couldn’t help but dodge. When Kieran let go of her, she moved away from him. Afraid that he would come close to her again, she immediately went to the cupboard to get the gift box. The gift box was around the size of her palm.
Kieran followed her with a smile. He had seen this box in Evergreen Heights a few days ago. Did that mean that she prepared a New Year’s gift for him even though she wasn’t confident in the Morgan family? So, did that mean that Lila saw him differently from everyone else?
“What is it?”
Lila smiled but said nothing. She just stuffed the box into his hands, which meant that if he wanted to know what was inside, he needed to open it himself.
Kieran smiled. The box looked small in his hand. He opened it carefully, afraid that the edges of the box would dent.
Inside the box were black rose cufflinks. There were diamonds on top that shone brightly under the light. When Lila was about to take the cufflinks out, she noticed that her fingertips still had orange juice.
She was taken aback. Then, she looked at Kieran’s shirt, which she had just grabbed. On the white shirt, there was a yellow mark. She widened her eyes. “I dirtied your clothes.”
Kieran glanced at his shirt, but he didn’t care about it. He chuckled and said, “I like the New Year’s gift you gave me.”
Lila pointed at the yellow mark and wanted to tell him to change into a new shirt. Kieran understood what she meant. He chuckled again and closed the box before placing it on the desk. Then, he went to his wardrobe and grabbed a light sweater.
When he lowered his head and started to unbutton his shirt, she quickly turned around. “Take your time. I’ll wait for you downstairs.”
Before Lila could take a step, Kieran grabbed her wrist. “Isn’t it weirder if you go down alone?”
Upon hearing that, she stopped moving. As she listened to the rustling sound behind her, her ears turned red. When it became silent, she contemplated turning around when he hugged her from behind.
The pleasant scent of soap was somewhat different from Kieran’s usual fragrance. Lila stiffened as he led her down the stairs. The people chatting in the living hall looked toward them and smiled faintly.
Lila smiled back at them, but when she saw Ruby, she was taken aback. When they returned, Ruby happened to be on a call outside. So, they had just seen each other.
“Hello, Ms. Clemence.” Lila suppressed her feelings.
Ruby grabbed the gift bag next to her. “Here’s your New Year’s gift. I hope you like it.”
Based on the packaging, it was a Chanel bag. It was such an expensive item. When Lila was about to reject it, Noah called out, “Ms. Clemence, come here.”
Ruby turned and glanced at Noah
before stuffing the gift into Lila’s
hands. “Happy New Year! Let me go over and take a look,” she said with a smile Without waiting for Lila’s response, she turned around and went over to Noah.
