Chapter 399
Lila’s eyes were pleading with Gordon with a burning passion.
Gordon moved his lips. Then, he let out a long sigh. “Lila, don’t be stupid. Aren’t you doing well in life now? I bet your parents only wanted you to be happy.”
Taking a step back, he excused himself. “I’ll have to leave for an event. Come to me again if you need any help.”
Watching him hurry out of the office, she flashed a bitter smile. She knew Gordon would never tell her the truth. At the same time, she knew that her parents’ deaths were suspicious.
After she composed herself, she left Gordon’s office to look for Alfredo.
Alfredo hadn’t even opened the vacuum flask. Lila slowly opened the flask and took out all the dishes within it.
Alfredo watched her work. After a while, he sighed. “Are you missing your parents? Back then…”
He stopped himself from speaking further. Patting Lila on the shoulder, he continued, “Lila, I know you have been struggling these years, but you’re now married to Kieran. You could try for a child in two years. Even if you don’t want a child, that’s fine too.
“Kieran is a responsible child, and he’s truly in love with you. Life will get better for the both of you.”
Lila nodded. To her, Alfredo remained a figure worthy of respect. “Don’t worry, Uncle Alfredo. I have been missing my parents recently. That’s all.”
She lowered her gaze, hiding all her emotions. “Aunt Nicole is waiting for me to have lunch at home. I’ll leave now.”
“Bring the vacuum flask with you.” Alfredo felt pained when he heard Lila’s tearful voice. He tried his best to sound warm and loving. “I heard Nicole say that you and Kieran were busy moving out. Do you plan to move to your new place before the end of the year? Hilltop Heights is a great neighborhood. If the process is too much trouble, you can get some of the family maids to help you out.”
“Oh, there’s no need for that. We planned to move into the new place before that, but we had to postpone the move because of our travels. It doesn’t make much of a difference when we move in. By the way, we’ll visit the Morgan residence when we’re done with the moving.”
The Morgans would gather at the Morgan residence every year to spend the New Year together.

At the rooftop of the Morgan Group Headquarters. Kieran looked into the distance with a sharp and unreadable look that warned of unknown dangers.
One didn’t have to guess to see that he was in a bad mood, even though he had just come home from a happy honeymoon.
“Ms. Hart went to Wilmer Tower today. I asked the staff members there. They said she was there to deliver lunch, but before that, she had been looking for Gordon,” reported Cole.
Upon hearing that, the darkness in Kieran’s eyes deepened. “And?”

recognize her at first-or maybe he mistook her for someone else. He
shoved Ms. Hart rudely, but
thankfully, Mr. Alfredo showed up at
the right time. After that, Ms Hart had a private talk with Gordon in Gordon’s office.
“Gordon left his office in a rush. After he left, Ms. Hart came out with a sour expression too. She went home after briefly dropping by Mr. Alfredo’s office.”
Kieran glanced at the materials in his hand. He announced, “Fire that assistant.”
Shocked, Cole gasped, “Mr. Morgan, don’t you think it’s inappropriate for us to fire Wilmer Corporation’s staff? Besides, that guy works under Gordon. He’s been a longtime employee at Wilmer Corporation-“
Cole was cut off by Kieran’s short, gruff snort. “Gordon is the next to go.”
Cole’s heart sank. Something serious had happened, he assumed.
