The man’s long, pale fingers gently swirled the wine in his glass. “You know, Jasper might have a point.”
Jasper grinned with satisfaction. “I’ve seen this kind of thing a lot, Haynie. Just trust me on this.”
Haynes took a small sip of his wine, his dark eyes inscrutable, a shadow of something unfathomable flickering within them.
Foreman was about to interject further when Haynes’s phone rang.
While Haynes answered the call, Foreman leaned in and whispered to Jasper, “Weren’t you the one who always wanted Haynie to divorce Stella and marry Rachel?”
“Now that Haynie is considering a divorce, why are you suddenly against it?”
Jasper glanced over at Haynes, still on the phone, and replied quietly, “I did think that at first, but… Rachel doesn’t have much time left. Even if she marries Haynie, she won’t live for long.”
“Rather than let Stella divorce and live a carefree life, it’s better to keep her stuck, unable to move on with someone else.”
Foreman frowned, “Didn’t you guys find a miracle doctor for Rachel?”
Jasper shrugged dismissively, “That old guy knows Stella. Whether he’ll truly help Rachel is still up in the air.”
“Besides, curing a terminal illness isn’t that simple. Extending Rachel’s time is possible, but a full recovery? That’s a long shot.”
“What if she does get better?” Foreman asked.
Jasper seemed unfazed, “Then they can get divorced later. Rachel’s treatment will take at least a year or so. Meanwhile, we can drag things out for Stella and keep her from being happy.”
Foreman was silent for a moment before he asked, “Why do you hate Stella so much, Jasper? Did she wrong you somehow?”
Meanwhile, Haynes was on a call with his assistant, Benson.
“Mr. O’Brien, I have something about your wife… Would you like to hear it?”
Though Stella and Haynes were in the process of separating, they were still legally married.
Benson hesitated but decided to share the information with Haynes.
“Go on,” Haynes replied, his voice low and measured.
Benson explained, “I have a friend who asked me to track someone down. Apparently, a renowned musician named Walden accidentally saw a violin performance video and was incredibly impressed, wanting to find the performer.” “They weren’t familiar with Novaris, so the request eventually landed with me.”
“It turns out… the violinist in that video is your wife.”
Haynes inquired, “Who is this Walden?”
Benson’s voice grew animated, “Master Walden is a distinguished musician in Yorston, a virtuoso violinist who has even received a lifetime achievement award. He’s highly influential!”
“During a recent conference in Novaris, Master Walden saw your wife’s video and wants to invite her to his music exchange event.”
“You once tried to boost Ms. Pearce’s reputation by inviting Master Walden, but he turned it down.”
“If your wife wins Master Walden’s admiration, her future prospects would be limitless!”

After listening, Haynes remained silent for a long time.
