Jasper couldn’t help but roll his eyes at the news. “How long has she been talking about divorce now? Every time it’s the same old story. She threatens you with it whenever she wants something. Honestly, I’m getting tired of it, aren’t you?”
“Remember last time she said she’d meet you at the courthouse to finalize it? That was just because you didn’t show up for dinner with her. If you had gone, it wouldn’t have been about divorce at all.”
“Besides, with the cool-off period for divorce these days and having to book an appointment, it’s not that easy to just split up.”
“I know a buddy who tried to book a cool-off period with his wife, and they were told the slots were full! He couldn’t even get a date until next month.”

“Stella knows it’s not an easy process now, so she’s just trying to scare you.”
Jasper’s chatter was abruptly cut off by Haynes. “She’s already filed a lawsuit against me.”
Jasper froze for a moment, disbelief etched across his face, before bursting into laughter. “Haynie, you can’t be serious! Filing for divorce through the court takes even longer! My God, Stella’s such a drama queen. She’ll do anything to get your attention, won’t she?”
Haynes said nothing, his handsome face clouded with concern.
Was she really just putting on an act?
If it was an act, she was certainly convincing.
Jasper, wiping tears of laughter from his eyes, noticed Haynes’ serious demeanor and stopped laughing. “Alright, Haynie, don’t look so grim. She claims she’s filed, right? If she’s telling the truth, you’ll be getting a call from the court soon enough.”
“And if you don’t get a call, well, you’ll know she was bluffing.”
Haynes turned his gaze away, choosing silence over further conversation.

He gave her a knowing look, nodding towards the back room for a private chat.

“Then yesterday, he shows up with your no-good husband and his mistress.”
