Chapter 32

I was awakened when I felt fire spreading through my body. It started from my neck and spread to my toes. I was trying to keep my screams of agony in but I couldn’t help but let out whimpers of pain.

I know this pain, I’ve gone through it before and I know it was going to get worse in a minute. Tears leaked from my eyes, not because of the pain but from hurt and betrayal. 2

Jasmine whimpered in my head and I cried harder. My poor wolf. She’s gotten nothing but pains and tragedy since I was 10. Selene lied to me. Fuck her and her words of deceit. “To prepare you for what’s to come” my foot. I am just 18, why do I have to go through this?

“I’m sorry Jas. I’m sorry for putting you through this again”, I cried into the mindlink and she howled in pain in my head. I felt her trying to take my pain but I blocked her out. I could not let her take it again, if she keeps doing that, I’d lose her in no time.

The pain got worse and I clutched the bed spread and bit my lips till I tasted blood. I tried not to make any noise so I wouldn’t wake Rose and Jayden.

The fire within me got hotter, it felt like lava was running through my veins and I did not know when a piercing scream escaped my lips. I clutched at my stomach to stop the piercing pain in it to no avail. It felt like my intestines were being melted slowly, at this point, I was already drenched in my own sweat and I could barely breathe.

The pain was worse than what I experienced with Grayson. With Grayson, I could at least see what was going on around me. Adrian must be having so much fun.

My door suddenly broke open and I saw the silhouette of Rose and Jayden rush into my dark room. Rose rushed towards me while Jayden turned on the light.

Rose’s eyes widened when she saw my writhing body and by her loud gasp, she must have understood what was happening in that moment.

“Jayden, get out”, she whispered into the room, knowing fully well that Jayden could hear her because of his werewolf hearing. “What? Ro, what’s the matter?” A very confused Jayden asked as he made his way towards my bed.

“Get out!!!” She turned towards him and shrieked and Jayden left the room without being told again. I was still holding my stomach but the pain had subsided a little.

“Oh my, Lola. I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry”, she kept repeating her apologies and I sent her a weak smile. It wasn’t her fault I was in that situation, Adrian was the one to be blamed for his lack of control.

I was about to reply to her when I screamed out in agony again. Rose rushed towards me and touched me, resulting in me screaming more. She pulled back and I heard her crying.

Adrian should be ashamed of himself for failing as a mate and a son. He’s the reason his mother is in despair at the moment. Despite my pain, I wanted to reach out to her and console her.

“Let me help you out of your clothes please”, she sniffled and tried to remove my clothes but I stopped her. I did not want her to see my scars and bruises.

“N-no, p-p-please-e-e*, I weakly said and she looked at me in confusion. “Please allow me, Lola. Your clothes are thick and will only add to the heat you’re feeling”, she said to me and I had no choice but to allow her to remove it. I closed my eyes tightly as she undressed me, not wanting to see the look in her eyes.

She gasped when she removed my top and I did not need to look at her eyes to know that she was disgusted by me. Without saying another word, she removed that duvet covering my legs and removed my bottoms gently.

I was expecting her to leave but she went into my bathroom and soon came out with a towel and basin of water. She kept sniffling and tried to hide the fact that she was crying.

She tended to me, using the cold towel to make me feel less hot, it did not work but I appreciated her efforts. She’d hold my hands whenever the pains returned and I started clutching at my stomach, which I knew was going to bruise by morning.

I’d occasionally see her look at my body and tear up. I saw pity in her eyes and I wanted to hide my skin but I had no energy to move my body. I felt vulnerable under her eyes but I couldn’t do anything about it.

About 2 hours later, the agonizing pain subsided and I felt myself growing weak with each passing moment. Rose noticed that I wasn’t writhing as much and came to sit on the bed beside me on the bed.

She pulled my hair that was matted with sweat to my forehead away and gently caressed my cheeks. I opened my tired eyes and looked up at her to find her crying.

“Can I?” She gently asked and I nodded at her, knowing what she was asking for. She gently traced her hands over my visible scars as more tears rolled down her eyes. She lingered the big purple scar on my stomach where another bruise was forming already.

“From your last pack?” She whispered and I nodded. “Yeah, my former mate”, I whispered back and she started crying again.

I wanted to hug her but the pain in my stomach did not allow me to move far before I slumped onto the bed again. She gently hugged me and I felt so warm and protected. I felt like I was in my mother’s arms.

“No one deserved what you went through, Lola. You’re just a child, you should be protected and cared for. I promise to protect you from here on, I’d not let any harm come to you”, she said into my hair as she cried.

I hugged her back and cried a bit. She kissed my forehead as she covered me with the duvet and stepped away from the bed.

“Goodnight, Lola”, she whispered as she opened the door and stepped out.

“Goodnight, Mom”, I whispered into the empty room. Then I lost consciousness.
