Elizabeth, for once, didn’t fall silent. Instead, she pressed on. “Mr. Ellison, I’m only thinking about our future–about our child’s future. He’s your son–shouldn’t you be making plans for him? Are you really willing to let him be born as an illegitimate child, denied his rightful place in the Ellison family? I’ve accepted being the woman you hide away, but I won’t let our child endure the same shame. I refuse to let our child live that way. I won’t allow him to grow up being mocked and treated as an outsider. But look at Caroline! She’s carrying another man’s child, yet she’s the one Ms. Harper treasures! Meanwhile, I’m the one being cast aside!”
David’s expression remained unreadable. “I’ll take care of it. You don’t need to worry.”
“How?” Elizabeth asked, pressing for answers. “Are you finally going to take me to the Ellison estate and officially acknowledge me and our child?”
“You’ll know when the time comes. But I would never let my child be mistreated.”
Elizabeth felt a little relieved but still uneasy.
What exactly was David planning?
“Mr. Ellison, could you at least talk to me about it? I’d like to know how you’re planning things.” Elizabeth brushed away her tears. “As his mother, I want to know if there’s anything I can do for him. As his mother, I should have a say.”
“Your only job is to focus on your pregnancy and take care of yourself.”
David wasn’t going to reveal anything more.

“Don’t worry. My child will have everything they deserve.”
Hearing those words, Elizabeth finally let go of her concerns.
As long as her child’s future was guaranteed, she knew her own standing would be secure as well.
