Chapter 330 David Thought Caroline Was Dead, But She Did Nothing

David let out a cold snort. “So now you’re blaming me instead?”

Caroline felt even guiltier.

She was trying to shift the blame and change the subject–but David wasn’t taking the bait.

“Caroline, are you seriously upset that I disturbed your sleep?” he asked, his tone sharp. “Hmm?”

She mumbled, “At least you know.”

David’s expression darkened. The frustration in him kept growing.

But there was nothing he could do. What could he possibly do to Caroline? Nothing. He wouldn’t dare.

Besides, he was the one who thought she was dead. From start to finish, she had done absolutely nothing.

“Who taught you to fall asleep in the bathtub?” he scolded. “What if the water got cold? What if you slipped under? What if you caught a cold? If I hadn’t come back in time and found you lying there, were you planning to sleep in there until morning?

Caroline shot back, “I’m a grown woman. I can take care of myself. And I’ve never heard of anyone drowning in their own bathtub. But thanks for your concern, David. Instead of wasting time lecturing me, why don’t you… send everyone outside away?”

Her voice got quieter toward the end.

Even though only the two of them were in the bathroom and no one else knew exactly what had happened, the entire Ellison residence must be buzzing with speculation after all the commotion.

David scoffed but made no move to leave. Instead, he leaned in even closer.

David lowered his gaze, studying her as if weighing the truth in her words,

Caroline quickly added, “I mean, you know how conservative I am. Do you really think I’d just let you waltz into the bathroom while I’m naked and let you carry me out–without putting up a fight?”

The crease between David’s brows eased slightly.

Caroline hated being touched: When it came to intimacy, she was always shy and reserved.
