The sight of the bathtub filled with blood made David certain of one thing-
Caroline was dead. There was no saving her.
Yet, clinging to the last shred of hope, he refused to accept it. Maybe, just maybe, she could still be saved.
“Someone! Anyone!” David’s hoarse, desperate voice echoed through the Ellison residence. “Call an ambulance! Save her.. Save her!”
The moment his voice rang out, the once–quiet estate erupted into chaos.
Security guards and bodyguards rushed into action.

Every member of the Ellison residence’s security team was highly trained to handle emergencies and respond at lightning speed, ensuring David’s safety at all costs.
Within seconds, the entire household was charging toward the master bedroom.
The first bodyguard to arrive kicked open the door and sprinted toward the bathroom. “Mr. Ellison!”
“Stop!” David’s voice was sharp and commanding. “No one comes in!”
Caroline was draped only in his coat, her bare shoulders peeking through.
How could I let another man see her like this?
She was his. Even in death, she belonged to him.
The bodyguard froze mid–step, halting just outside the bathroom.
The others who had arrived also stood still, waiting in tense silence for David’s orders.
“Where’s the ambulance?” David’s voice trembled.
“Mr. Ellison, the emergency call has already been placed. Estimated arrival in five minutes.”
Five minutes! Too long! Every second counted in a race against death–five minutes is an eternity. What could I do? Would Caroline still be able to open her eyes and look at me? Would she still be alive in this world?
David lowered his gaze to Caroline. Her body was ice–cold, completely devoid of warmth. Tightening his arms, he pulled her closer, holding her as if his embrace alone could bring her back.
“Caroline, hold on. You can’t die. You hear me? If you wake up, I’ll agree to anything you want. You want a divorce? Fine. Fine. We’ll get divorced. I’ll set you free. I’d rather let you leave me than lose you forever. Even if you’re not by my side, at least you’ll still exist in this world.”
David wasn’t even thinking–he was just speaking from pure instinct, voicing the thoughts tumbling through his mind.
The five minutes it took for the ambulance to arrive felt like an
entire lifetime. Inside the bathroom, only David’s low, broken vojce could be heard.
