As he strode toward the study’s door, Caroline turned to watch him, parting her lips slightly as if to speak, but in the end, she remained silent.

David had just stepped out when he asked coldly, “What is it?”
“Someone from the Brooks family is here,” the butler reported. “They’re waiting outside the gates.They insist they must see you. It’s urgent.”
“Perfect timing.” David’s face remained unreadable, his expression dark and foreboding.
So, the Brooks family finally sees the end coming and scrambles over to beg for mercy. Do they really think a confession will buy them leniency? Fine. It all ends tonight.
Caroline furrowed her brows and followed closely behind. She wanted to see for herself.

At the entrance of the Ellison residence, Matthew and Samantha stood anxiously, waiting.

Inside the brightly lit living room, David lounged on the couch, one leg crossed over the other, exuding an imposing aura. His gaze swept over Matthew and Samantha with indifference.
“Mr. Ellison…” Matthew’s voice trembled. “I sincerely apologize for disturbing you so late at night.”
David smirked, though his eyes remained ice–cold, devoid of any warmth. “No need to apologize. I was just about to pay you a visit myself.”
His gaze flicked past them. “Elizabeth didn’t come?“.
“Elizabeth said she wasn’t allowed inside the Ellison residence. Madam Harper forbade her from coming
here.”
“And where is she now?”
Samantha quickly answered, “Elizabeth is in the hospital.”
David didn’t care why she was there. He simply remarked, “Did she stay away because she knew she wasn’t welcome, or because she didn’t dare to show up?”
“Mr. Ellison, Elizabeth wanted to come, but she couldn Samantha insisted.
Caroline scoffed, sensing something off. “She’s been dying to cling to David twenty–four hours a day, and suddenly, she can’t come? What happened? Did she break her legs or go blind?*
Seeing the perfect opportunity, Samantha immediately jumped in. “Elizabeth is actually…”
David lifted a hand, cutting her off. “Enough. We’ll deal with her another time. Right now, we’re settling your debts.”
