Caroline had thought she was just here to bandage his wound–nothing more. A simple task, nothing like those cliché situations where she’d have to stay the night.

“Uh, you should take a cold shower–no, an ice bath!” Caroline blurted. I’ll call the front desk to send up some ice. That should definitely cool you down!”

“No, stop–Caroline panicked. “David, don’t let the drug control you! Snap out of it! I’ll call a doctor–just stop! There has to be another way to counteract it! Just let go of me–ah! David! Your arm–you can’t put pressure on it! You’re still injured
But no matter what Caroline said, nothing could stop him.
At this point, she wasn’t even sure was this really the drug talking? Or was David just using it as an excuse

The drug’s effects seemed to have faded. It wasn’t nearly as intense as when Elizabeth was here.
His mind was clear. His vision sharp. His reasoning intact. He knew exactly what he was doing.
And he wanted to keep going.
In fact, what he felt now-
Was even stronger than when the drug was in full effect His body craved it.
His emotions surged, demanding release. He wanted Caroline–right here, right now.
And deep inside, a dark thought surfaced-
If Caroline confronted him about it tomorrow, he could blame it all on the drug.
It wasn’t him. It was the aphrodisiac.
Even though, deep down, he knew exactly what he was doing.

That made David pause.
Bracing his hands on either side of her, he lifted his head and narrowed his eyes at her. “What did you just say?
She didn’t hesitate. “I’ll find you a woman!”
David’s eyes darkened. “Caroline, how generous of you offering to find another woman for your own husband? Hmm?”
Caroline bit her lower lip. She didn’t want to be his antidote.
