In the outskirts of the city, the sky had darkened, and street lights flickered to life.
The area was remote, quiet, with few people or vehicles in sight. Only a handful of houses had their lights still on.
At the edge of the road stood an old, run–down hospital.
The faded sign on the wall, “Women’s Health Hospital,” was easy to miss at a glance.
A place this shabby could only mean that the medical conditions were just as poor.
“We’ve arrived, Ms. Julia,” the driver announced.
Caroline had not dared to close her eyes or let her guard down the entire ride. At the sound of the driver’s voice, she immediately sat up, glancing out the window
“This place is…”
It didn’t seem abandoned. Lights were on, shadows moved inside, and a few cars were parked nearby.
What is Julia planning?
“A hospital,” Julia replied casually. “I picked this place just for you. It may not be luxurious, but it’s still legitimate. After all, you’re Mrs. Ellison, far too distinguished to be handled roughly, right?”
Caroline’s heart pounded. “You planned all of this?”
“That’s right,” Julia said, smiling arrogantly. “Shall we, Mrs. Ellison?”
Caroline, of course, made no move to get out. She clenched her teeth, glaring at Julia.
Julia, unfazed, continued, “Don’t be fooled by how run–down this place looks. They specialize in abortions. The doctors here are highly experienced. On a busy day, they perform over a dozen procedures. You’re still in the early stages, so you qualify for a painless termination. And since you’re Mrs. Ellison, I figured I’d bring you somewhere proper. Otherwise…”

“Why would I need to hide? I’m cleaning up my fiancé’s mess. What’s there to be ashamed of? I have every right to do this.”
Caroline’s gaze bore into her.
“No. You had help.”
Julia smirked.
“Who told you I was pregnant with Nash’s child?” Caroline pressed. “Where did you get that information? And how did you know I was being held at the Ellison residence? You even had a retractable ladder ready and secured a hospital in advance…”
Someone had been feeding Julia information.
And whoever it was, they knew everything.
Then suddenly, Caroline’s jaw clenched. “Elisabeth. It was her.”
Only Elisabeth would have known the full details. Only she would fan the flames, pulling strings behind the scenes.
The Brooks family was determined to destroy her.
