Caroline gritted her teeth and looked at David. “Mr. Ellison, are you sure you want me to go around toasting everyone?”
“Are you deaf or foolish? Wasn’t I clear enough?”
David pulled out a cigarette and placed it between his lips. Immediately, someone stepped forward to respectfully light it for him.
He lowered his head, lit the cigarette, and the smoke curled lazily into the air.
Through the thin haze of smoke, David shot her a cold glance. “Hurry up.”
Just moments ago, he had been all gentleness and affection toward her, but now, his demeanor was completely indifferent.
Thankfully, Caroline hadn’t gotten swept up in the moment. Her thoughts remained sharp and clear.
She knew, after all, this was his true nature, the one that was evident now!
Meanwhile, the others in the room were struggling to keep pace.
This woman, sitting on David’s lap, seemingly adored and treated like royalty, was quickly thrust out to toast. David was still the same, detached from women.
If this woman wasn’t important, then they could try to take advantage.
After all, there had to be something special about her to be kept so close by David. Otherwise, he wouldn’t continue to have her around.
They, too, were curious to find out what she had to offer!
“Fine.” Suddenly, Caroline’s voice rang clear and bold. For Mr. Ellison’s sake, and to avoid ruining everyone’s mood, I’ll make a fool of myself.”
Her voice was confident and loud, filling the room with echoes.
Caroline had always been on edge, uncertain about what was to come. But now that the mystery had been unveiled, she couldn’t help but feel some relief.
It was just toasting.
She would drink as David wished!
David paused, glancing at her with a slight frown.

He thought Caroline would refuse, claiming she could drink or offer some other excuse. Instead, the had agreed so readily

Caroline poured herself a drink and spoke as she did. “I think the first toast should be for Mr. Ellison. What do
you all think? No objections, right?”
As if anyone would dare object!
Caroline moved toward David, holding the drink, and sat on the armrest of his chair.
“Mr. Ellison, should we drink from the same glass, or just like this?”
He narrowed his eyes. “You’re quite bold, aren’t you?”
“We’ve come this far. Let’s liven things up a bit. It’s my duty as your woman to get things going,” Caroline said, her smile alluring and playful, her eyes almost like hooks, drawing everyone’s attention.
David swallowed, his throat tightening. He sensed Caroline was playing with fire.
But the game had already started. It wasn’t over until he decided it was.
“Take care of everyone,” David said, raising his glass and clinking it with hers decisively. “Make sure to serve each and every one of them, do you understand?”
Caroline lowered her head, leaned into his ear, and whispered softly, “Understood, David Ellison.”
His grip tightened around the glass.
Then, in a low, daring tone, Caroline spoke again. “You think you’re the only one who knows how to play this game You think you’re the only one who can pamper me one moment, then toss me aside the next? Let me tell you, I can play, too. Just wait and see.”
