The more Suzan thought about it, the angrier she became. If things really got out of hand, she’d have to call in some backup.
Meanwhile, Mitchell, with his arm around a woman, headed straight for the nearest luxury hotel.
He could barely contain his impatience-Suzan’s recent pregnancy had left him pent up and frustrated. But even so, Mitchell had his standards; he wasn’t one to jump into bed with just anyone. Tonight, though, this woman caught his eye in just the right way, and he couldn’t resist.
He and the woman checked into a suite, eager to indulge themselves. By the end of the night, the room was in shambles-Mitchell had been drinking, and after Effie’s little stunt earlier, he’d let loose, pulling the woman along for a wild ride all over the place.
She was a willing partner, adventurous and playful, going along with whatever he suggested, yet bringing her own spice to the night. When it was over, Mitchell still felt a lingering hunger.
Morning sunlight streamed through the curtains when he finally woke. Wrapped in a haze of pleasure, he didn’t want to get up. But today was a big day for the family -a reunion he couldn’t skip. With a reluctant sigh, he forced himself out of bed.
He glanced at the woman beside him. Her eyes, still heavy with sleep, shimmered with a kind of vulnerability, her body marked by the night’s passion, giving her an alluring charm that tugged at something in him.
Especially her features—there was a faint resemblance to Effie. Mitchell couldn’t deny he liked that. But his attraction was purely physical, nothing deeper. To him, she was an outlet, a fun distraction-nothing more.
Sensing he was awake, the woman’s lashes fluttered before she slowly opened her eyes. She offered him a lazy, seductive smile. “So… was last night to your liking?” she murmured, trailing her foot along his calf.
Desire sparked again in Mitchell, and in a heartbeat, he pinned her beneath him once more.
By the time they finished, it was nearly noon.
Mitchell knew he had to leave-if he stalled any longer, he’d get an earful back home. He rose, took a quick shower, got dressed, and then scribbled out a check for thirty thousand dollars.
“Last night was mutual fun,” he said as he handed her the check. “We both had a good time. Go buy yourself something nice.”
The woman’s eyes grew wide as saucers at the sight of the amount.
Oh my god. That much for just one night?
He’s the real deal a golden goose!
Mitchell was clearly satisfied; otherwise, he wouldn’t have been so generous.
She snatched up the check, unable to hide her delight, though a calculating glint flickered in her eyes.
“Thank you. I had a wonderful time. I almost hate to let you go,” she purred.
Mitchell shot her a glance, then reached over to run his hands over her body one last time.
“Don’t worry, sweetheart. We’ll have another chance.”
And with that, he left.
The woman clutched the check, practically giddy.
What a windfall! Men like him didn’t come around often.
Normally, after a night like this, she’d take her birth control without a second thought. But this time, she changed her mind. She pretended to swallow the pill in front of Mitchell, but only held it in her mouth. When the door closed behind him, she spat it out.
She already knew who Mitchell was. A man this wealthy-if he’d pay that much for a one-night stand, imagine what he’d give a mistress.
If she played her cards right, maybe she could get more. After all, who didn’t want a better life?
It was obvious Mitchell liked her; it almost seemed like he was searching for something familiar in her face.
So, as he was leaving, she’d coaxed his contact information out of him.
