David laid back down on top of her, propping himself up on his hands beside her ears.
His eyes were deep as he stared at her. “What secrets are you keeping from me, huh?”
Caroline bit her lower lip, uncertain whether she should speak.
What should I say? How can I even say it?
In those few seconds of her hesitation, David’s patience had completely worn thin.
He raised his hand and pressed a button; the screen between the front and back seats of the car slowly descended, thoroughly dividing the space into two isolated areas.
In the back seat, it became a completely private space.
David was now free to do as he pleased, to freely touch her as he wanted.
Caroline burst into tears. “What will it take for you to let me go, David?”
“You know what I want,” his fingers dangerously traced her waist. “You tell me.”
She could only cry, her sobs so intense she nearly passed out, her body shaking with each cry.
Yet her tears did not stir a shred of pity in David.
His body was clamoring, driven by a primal urge to possess her fully.
At this moment, all that remained in David was the basic instinct of a man to dominate a woman.
“Speak!” David demanded coldly. “You know what you need to do for me to let you go!”
Choking on her sobs, Caroline answered, “Only if I miscarry, you will be satisfied.”
“So, will you do it or not?”
“I won’t do it, I can’t…” Caroline shook her head repeatedly. “This is my flesh and blood, my child; I cannot abandon them…”
David scoffed, “Then, what you will suffer next will only be worse, more painful, and more humiliating! That’s the price for keeping your child!”
She was desperate, even bringing up Harper to pressure him, using every means to protect her unborn child.
Ah, very well. Then he had plenty of ways to make her life unbearable, to push her to the brink until she willingly gave up the child.
Let’s see whose methods are more effective, whose resolve is stronger! David was confident Caroline would lose, that she would succumb to his tactics.
The sound of a belt unbuckling was distinctly audible in the car.

“I’ve kept this secret for so long, I’m tired… It’s not my fault, I’m even a victim, yet I have to suffer all this injustice.” Caroline forced a smile, more painful than crying, “Forget it, I don’t want to hide it anymore, let’s just lay it all out.”
“Why should I bear this alone? Why do those who persecute me roam free, living their lives and getting what they want… Let it be a total ruin, then, a mess for everyone. Otherwise, if it’s just me suffering, I can’t go on.”
David stared intently at her. “What are you trying to say?”
“Everything I know, I’ll say it all.”
